Inscribed 42 new sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Mass tourism, urban development, demographic pressure, conflicts, climate change - these are huge challenges for heritage.

The 45th session of the World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has ended. This year, the Committee entered 42 new sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List and approved the expansion of five of them. Of the 42 localities, 33 are cultural monuments and 9 natural monuments. These sites will benefit from the highest level of heritage protection in the future and will gain access to new assistance options from UNESCO. ...
