7. HGK family accommodation forum: Large capacities, quality and innovation necessary for competitiveness

The Family Accommodation Forum (FOS), as one of the most relevant gatherings for the preparation of private renters for the tourist season and insight into tourist trends, will be held in Saturday, March 18 at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb. FOS is organized by the Tourism Sector of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Croatian Tourist Board.

Considering the importance of the tourism industry for our country and the need for continuous improvement of the structure and quality of accommodation facilities, FOS lecturers will affirm the importance of excellence in family accommodation as a prerequisite for the competitive and sustainable development of Croatian tourism. 

"According to the data of the State Bureau of Statistics, family and private accommodation represent 61% of the total offer of accommodation capacity in the country, and are growing at the highest average annual rate of 4,5%. However, in order to remain competitive on the market, it is necessary to encourage investments in quality accommodation facilities, especially in the segment of small family hotels. Accordingly, as part of the strategic goal Competitive and innovative tourism, we plan to stimulate the conversion of family accommodation into innovative types of accommodation with added values", the director of the Tourism Sector of HGK Andreja Vukojević clarified the vision of the FOS organization.

At this year's FOS, there will be two panels through presentations that will provide current information with the aim of helping in preparations for the tourist season and insight into trends in the tourist market. 

In the first panel, there will be a discussion on excellence in family accommodation as a prerequisite for the competitive and sustainable development of Croatian tourism. The second panel will deal with current news in legislation.

He will give a speech on achieving long-term sustainable family tourism Nedo Pinezić, Nikolina Novinić will present the important role of good communication with guests. At the end there will be a lecture Ljerke Markota on the tax position of providers of household accommodation.

The family accommodation forum will once again highlight the importance of improving the system of categorization and recategorization and encouraging the improvement of the quality of accommodation facilities and all other catering facilities. The need to encourage the obtaining of quality marks and a stronger appreciation of the principles of environmentally friendly and socially responsible business will be emphasized.

The family accommodation forum has been held since 2014 and represents a unique annual gathering of representatives of family accommodation at the national level. So far, it has been held in Opatija, Poreč, Zadar, Zagreb, Split and Pazin.
