The Tourist Board of Central Istria (TZSI) presented the continuation of the project "Live and Work in Central Istria", which, with the financial support of the Croatian Tourist Board, is being held for the third year in a row in the post-season period, with the aim of extending the tourist season.

This year's innovative project called "Gourmet Getaway - Workation & Workshops", the result is continuation of cooperation with the Association of Digital Nomads of Croatia, the experts of Saltwater Nomads and the Development Agency of the Heart of Istria, and will take place from November 3 to December 3, 2023. As they point out from TZSI, this project is not only an opportunity for digital nomads from all over the world to discover the beauties of Central Istria, but also an important initiative that in the long term will surely further stimulate the tourist and economic growth of the interior of Istria throughout the year.

Through the "Gourmet Getaway - Workation & Workshops" project, central Istria presents itself as an ideal destination for digital nomads at any time of the year, offering them the opportunity to work and relax in a beautiful rural environment. According to the words Director of TZSI Sanja Kantaruti, with this project they want to emphasize that Central Istria is not only a destination for summer tourism, but also a place that offers a variety of contents and experiences throughout the year.

"Central Istria is a mosaic of experiences waiting to be explored. Gourmet Getaway offers digital nomads the opportunity to visit the destination in the winter months, but also to experience the authentic way of life in the interior of Istria. The vision of our project is to encourage interaction, i.e. a longer-term exchange of knowledge and experiences between local communities and digital nomads", Kantaruti pointed out.

By introducing such initiatives, the Tourist Board of Central Istria wants to encourage the diversification of tourism, i.e. the further development of selective forms of tourism and extend the tourist season and provide the local population with the opportunity for new business partnerships, collaborations and learning from global professionals.

As part of this project, a public invitation was published through which four digital nomads will be able to experience all the charms of central Istria for a month. The winners will be awarded a month of free accommodation in a rural villa in central Istria, a travel grant of 250 euros, a weekly food budget and participation in a series of workshops and gastronomic experiences.

The competition is open until September 24, 2023, and the selected winners will get to know the diversity of culture, gastronomy and natural beauty of the destination during their stay, while at the same time maintaining their global work rhythm through work. This is an opportunity to combine work and pleasure, to enjoy authentic local flavors, to discover the "art" of wine and honey production, and to perfect the skills of cooking traditional Istrian dishes.
