The introduction of new seasonal routes of Croatia Airlines from Split to Oslo and Skopje was celebrated at Split Airport yesterday, with which the Croatian national airline expands its network of European destinations during this year's tourist season.

The occassional ceremony, with which the Split airport gets an even better air connection with Europe, was held on the eve of the first flight from Split to Oslo. Until mid-October 2023, passengers on this international route will have flights on Sundays, departing from Split airport at 13:50. The flights will be operated by Airbus aircraft.

There were 82 passengers on the first flight from Split to Oslo, and 89 passengers were pre-booked on the return flight from Oslo to Split.

The ceremony also discussed the new seasonal route Split - Skopje, on which the first flight took place on Friday, May 12. Flights on this line are planned twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays, also until mid-October this year, and will be operated by the Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

"We are glad that in this year's summer flight schedule we have also expanded our network of destinations from Split and that we will operate on lines to Oslo and Skopje. Thus, during this season, we will directly connect Split with 20 foreign destinations, and the Republic of Croatia with a total of 24, thus providing strong support for the development of Croatian tourism and economy, and we contribute to the even greater attractiveness of our homeland on the tourist map of the world", said Marija Pavić, sales manager of Croatia Airlines.

"Over 50 airlines fly to Split Airport during the summer season, but from a strategic point of view, Croatia Airlines is our most important business partner because it offers the widest network of direct lines, the largest number of flights and ensures year-round connectivity of our region with the world. Last year's network with 18 direct lines according European destinations this season is further increased with lines to Oslo and Skopje. If we add 3 domestic lines and a series of charter flights to Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Ireland, then we can estimate the importance of Croatia Airlines in achieving the business goals of Split Airport , and especially in the further development of air transport and tourism in this region", said Pero Bilas, assistant director of Split Airport.

"We have an excellent start to the pre-season, and the new seasonal airlines will contribute to an even better positioning of the Split-Dalmatia County in our broadcast markets. For more southern regions like ours, increased air traffic and more intensive flights are of key importance, especially when we talk about the distant Scandinavian market and their to guests who, in an economic sense, are among the strongest in the world. We are extremely happy for the arrival of our guests and for the start of the first official tourist season without a pandemic, in which we hope for a complete recovery of the tourist market. We must certainly emphasize that the excellent tourism results of our county also contribute to long-term successful cooperation with Croatia Airlines, which we hope for in the future as well", said Maja Franetović from the Tourist Board of the Split-Dalmatia County.

"This season we have two more new lines in cooperation with the national carrier Croatia Airlines, which contributes to the successful start of the pre-season. The new flights to Oslo and Skopje are an added value to our tourist product because guests who come to the destination by direct flights are more rested and satisfied, and it is easier to decide to travel. We are pleased that one of the new trips is related to the Scandinavian market, which is among our 5 most important emission markets, especially because tourists from Scandinavia are known as good consumers and choose to visit a certain destination more than once. With optimism we are looking at this year's tourist season and we hope for a large number of passengers on the new lines and the continuation of successful cooperation with Croatia Airlines in the future", said Alijana Vukšić, director of the Tourist Board of the City of Split.

During this season, Croatia Airlines planes will directly connect Split with a total of 20 European destinations, i.e. 21 airports - Amsterdam, Athens, Vienna, Berlin, Bucharest, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London Gatwick and London Heathrow, Lyon, Milan, Munich , Oslo, Paris, Prague, Rome, Skopje, Stockholm and Zurich.

During the tourist season, Croatia Airlines plans to connect Croatia with 24 international destinations, i.e. 25 European airports, and the planes will fly on 47 international routes. In total, more than 17.000 flights are planned, and more than 1.820.000 seats will be offered.

With its network of direct international flights, the Croatian national airline provides strong support to the development of Croatian tourism and economy this year and remains a strategically important part of the Croatian transport and tourist infrastructure.
