Croatia records more than 70 thousand visitors with electric vehicles annually, while Europe currently has over 4 million registered electric cars, according to the e-mobility association Circuit.

In such an environment, the availability of charging stations is becoming one of the key factors for the development of tourism and the economy. Leading accommodation booking platforms already allow filtering by the availability of EV charging stations, making this trend increasingly important.

Can we do better?

Certainly, but for that step forward we must fulfill the first prerequisite - and that is a wider and better infrastructure of charging stations for electric vehicles. It is strange that precisely because of tourism, if not because of our own interests, we were not the leaders and among the first to network the entire Croatia with electric charging stations.

At least the highway, the capital cities and the entire coast. Because if we don't have a network of electric charging stations (although the whole story is much broader - from the number of chargers at one location, the layout of the space where the charging stations are located to the power) we can't even expect anyone to come by electric car.

Croatian National E-Mobility Association Circuit for this reason, it has relaunched the initiative for expansion of the filling station network for electric vehicles ahead of the upcoming tourist season. The campaign aims to improve infrastructure and position Croatia as a modern and green tourist destination, attractive to environmentally conscious travelers.

According to a survey by the Circuit Circle conducted at the end of last year, over 90% of electric vehicle drivers are ready to switch your habits when choosing restaurants, cafes or accommodation if the facilities have built-in filling stations.

The above data clearly indicates the key role of infrastructure for the upcoming tourist season.

Incentives for the future and support for the tourism sector

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund has announced subsidies in the amount of 32 million euros to co-finance the installation of electric charging stations for legal entities in 2025.

The Electric Circle, which has already implemented three campaigns to increase the number of EV charging stations, in which around a thousand Croatian companies participated, provided free advisory services to all interested entities to make it easier for them to take advantage of the incentives and build the necessary infrastructure in their facilities.

"We invite all interested caterers, accommodation owners and other business entities to apply for free consulting and take advantage of the opportunity to co-finance the installation of EV charging stations in order to adapt their facilities to modern trends." they said from the Power Circuit.
