Croatian tourist agency presents the entire Croatian tourist offer at a specialized camping fair TRAVEL + CAMPING, that u Essen is being held until February 23rd. It is one of the most important fairs for the camping segment, with around 800 exhibitors from all over the world presenting their products and more than 80 thousand visitors viewing their offerings. The special feature of this year's event is that Croatia is presenting itself as Partner country fair, which gave us special visibility and promotion as part of the entire program. A Croatian tourist delegation was also present at the fair Tonci Glavin, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board and Romeo Draghicchi, director of the HTZ Representative Office in Frankfurt.

"The German market is still our first source market, from which we receive the largest number of tourists, and that is why we pay special attention to promoting our country in this market, and at the Essen fair, as a partner country, we are presenting Croatia as a TOP destination for camping, cyclotourism and outdoor activities. According to the latest research by the European Travel Commission, as many as 79% of Germans want to travel to other countries, which is an ideal opportunity for us, considering that nature, camping and the outdoor offer are their main motives for travel and that Croatia is still in the TOP 10 travel destinations for Europeans. On the German market, our country is recognized as one of the leading camping destinations in Europe, and this is confirmed by ADAC data, which are extremely relevant for Germans, according to which Croatia is in second place in terms of the quality of campsites in Europe, and in first place in terms of the quality of the bathing offer. We are also proud that our campsites, 26 of them, are winners of the ADAC Superplatz label, which proves that we have a truly high-quality camping offer, and our investment in further improving the quality every year "is growing", said the minister The hub.

During the official opening of the fair, hosted by a famous German TV presenter Andrea Griessmann, the occasion speech was delivered by, among others, Thomas Kufen, Mayor of Essen. The fair was also visited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Federal Republic of Germany Gordan Bakota.

"Camping sites are part of our offer that we are particularly proud of and that stand out for their quality, as well as investments in additional facilities such as wellness, sports fields, playgrounds, etc. In addition to the attractive locations of the campsites themselves and their high quality, we also have an advantage in the position of our country, which is only a few hours' drive away by car or camper van and is accessible to numerous guests from different countries. By expanding the offer and services in campsites, we want to maintain its position as a successfully established segment of our offer, which is especially important if we know that we have the most accommodation capacities in campsites, right after family accommodation.", said the director Stanicic.

The Croatian stand will also feature 14 co-exhibitors, including tourist boards, national parks, hoteliers, agencies and transport companies. The award ceremony for sustainable business was also held at the Croatian exhibition area. Camp Obonjan from side João Alves Pereira, President of the World Camping Federation (FICC), and all guests and visitors will be provided with a tasting of quality Croatian wines and cheeses in collaboration with Croatian Chamber of CommerceIn addition, the Croatian delegation also met with representatives of a German tour operator. Egypt Travel, an independent specialist for Croatia through which around 25 thousand German travelers come to our country annually.

"The federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is the most populous state in Germany and, regionally speaking, the first emitting tourist market within the country. As such, this region is also extremely important for Croatian tourism, and given the distance from our country and the excellent air connections from Düsseldorf and Cologne airports, travelers from this state often choose air travel, especially to southern destinations in Croatia. However, as camping in this region is extremely popular, many tourists also enjoy staying in our camps, especially in July, when the school holidays are in the state. Therefore, I am sure that our appearance at the Essen fair, along with the accompanying promotional activities, will provide us with greater visibility among the residents of this part of Germany, and thus we will further strengthen our position in this important market," he said Draghicchio.

Let us add that Germans are the most important and numerous guests, accounting for over 20% of total tourist overnight stays in Croatia during the year. This was the case last year, when Germans spent more than 22 million overnight stays in our country, of which 7,7 million were spent in campsites. They spent the most overnight stays in Wife (over 10 million overnight stays), on Kvarner (over 4,5 million overnight stays) and in Split-Dalmatia i Zadar County (over 2,4 million overnight stays), and looking at the destinations in Rovinj, Poreč and Medulin.
