Croatia will host the 2nd UNWTO World Sports Tourism Congress

The 117th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was held in Marrakesh, Morocco, where it was decided how Croatia to host 2. of the World Sports Tourism Congress of the UNWTO.

By the way, next year Croatia will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its membership in the UNWTO, which will be a great link to the sports tourism congress. 

"By cooperating within the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization, we are creating a framework for better and more sustainable tourism on a global level, which is extremely important to us in the context of positioning Croatia as a competitive destination for sustainable tourism in the world. A key part of that path for us is the adoption of the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030, which is firmly connected to European and national funding sources. Next year, Croatia celebrates the 30th anniversary of its membership in the UNWTO, and I can announce that Croatia will host the 2nd UNWTO World Sports Tourism Congress as well as the meeting of the Tourism and Sustainability Committee, which we will chair from 2022., Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac said at the session. 

On the sidelines of the 117th session of the UNWTO Executive Council, Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac and Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism, which opened the way to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of sustainable, innovative and of resilient tourism with a special emphasis on digitization in the sector and strengthening cooperation in multilateral frameworks. 

Minister Brnjac held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Fatima Zahra Ammor, with whom she discussed the further strengthening of cooperation in the field of tourism, which Croatia and Morocco began by signing the Memorandum of Understanding in 2019, and with the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ahmet Aqeel Al Khateeb, with whom she discussed the activities undertaken by Croatia in order to raise the quality of the offer and competitiveness, sustainable tourism and cooperation within the UNWTO.
