The city of Dubrovnik achieved three million overnight stays, even two weeks earlier than last year.
According to data from the eVisitor system, on August 23, Dubrovnik recorded three million overnight stays, which is two weeks earlier than last year. From the beginning of the year to August 24, the number of overnight stays amounted to 3.025.145, which represents a growth of 10% compared to the same period last year. In the same period, 947.407 arrivals were recorded, also with an increase of 10%.
Although the first news that the record was broken two weeks ago may suggest additional strengthening of excessive tourism in the peak season, but the record was achieved due to the expansion of the season, i.e. a better pre-season.
"The success of a destination is not measured exclusively by the increase in the number of arrivals and overnight stays, it is only one of the indicators, but at the same time very important when looking at the growth schedule of overnight stays. The city of Dubrovnik ensured double-digit growth in 2024 by increasing the number of overnight stays in the pre-season and maintaining number of overnight stays in the main season, comparing the same with the previous one in 2023. While many destinations in the Republic of Croatia record a lower number of overnight stays, Dubrovnik - a city that was once an example of mass tourism on the world map, is now writing some other stories with the goal of a high-quality tourist destination - Dubrovnik shows how respecting and appreciating the local population can simultaneously achieve excellent tourism results. " they state from the city of Dubrovnik.
The city of Dubrovnik also states that they expect an excellent post-season which, thanks to the synergy of tourism stakeholders, will last until December and which will confirm Dubrovnik as the absolute champion of Croatian tourism in 2024.
