Gorski kotar, with record tourism results and high ratings from visitors, is recognized as a destination of excellence that bases its operations on the principles of sustainability.

It is important to emphasize that in only a year and a half of operation of the office of the unique Tourist Board of Gorski kotar and systematic work on the promotion of the tourist offer of the region, it is recognized by the competent institutions. Namely, Gorski Kotar was among the finalists for the selection of the most successful rural tourism destination at the Days of Croatian Tourism. 

"In a very short time, together with all stakeholders in the destination, we have made a huge step forward in positioning the tourist offer of this region, while maintaining the enviable quality of service provided to our visitors. We are glad that our domestic and foreign visitors recognize this.", said Petar Hrg, director of the Tourist Board of Gorski kotar.

Systematic monitoring of the quality of the service provided to visitors of Gorski kotar shows that the overall rating is significantly above the average, and according to the processed opinions and impressions, it was rated with 88 out of a total of 100.

A sample of five thousand opinions and impressions was processed, and the offers of local OPGs (98/100), private accommodation (95/100), attractions (93/100), travel agencies (100/100), catering facilities (89/100) and hotels (85/100).

There is a noticeable trend in which an increasing number of stakeholders in the tourism of the Goran region respond to reviews and thank guests for their comments and ratings. Increasingly, guests are subtly encouraged and motivated to leave their opinions on online platforms, which are one of the extremely effective promotion tools for Gorski Kotar (a new trend of "word of mouth").

When choosing a destination, accommodation, attractions, hospitality facility, travel agency, etc., guests mostly trust the impressions left by guests who stayed and felt the hospitality, beauty, service and overall tourist product of the irresistible Gorski Kotar.

Record numbers, realized activities and plans

According to all statistical indicators, Gorski Kotar surpasses the record year 2019 and the extremely successful last year. In ten months of this year, 14,6% more overnight stays and 7,59% more arrivals were recorded compared to the record year 2019, and 19,25% more overnight stays and 12,54% more arrivals compared to last year.

According to the number of overnight stays and arrivals, as well as visitor reviews, private accommodation of higher categories breaks all records compared to 2019 and last year, and their occupancy is at an enviable level, from 150 to 200 days a year, with safe accommodation reservations even several months in advance.

The Office of the Tourist Office of Gorski Kotar launched the thematic annual campaign "What is luxury today?" emphasizing the values ​​of a destination that offers the visitor more than a vacation and encourages personal well-being which is crucial in order to reduce the effects of everyday life stressors, which positively affects the general psychophysical state of the individual.

Along with a series of promotional activities, the new destination portal as well as hike the project of marking pedestrian and hiking trails, a significant step forward was made towards broadcasting markets, especially towards German-speaking markets. "In the next year, we will focus on further strengthening the brand of the destination through the visual presentation of all Tourist Information Centers in the destination.
