Kristijan Harjač is the best sommelier in Croatia in 2024.

Sommelier Kristijan Harjač from the Rovinj restaurant Agli Amici was declared the best at the 27th Croatian Sommelier Championship.

Sommelier Kristijan Harjač from the Rovinj restaurant Agli Amici was declared the best at the 27th Croatian Sommelier Championship, which, organized by the Croatian Sommelier Club and under the auspices of the Croatian Tourist Board and the Kvarner Tourist Board, was held on December 2 and 3, 2024 in the Ambasador Hotel in Opatija. 

The championship was attended by 18 competitors from renowned Croatian restaurants, hotels and wineries.

Together with Kristijan Harjač, they competed in the final Mate Negulić (second place) from Rijeka restaurant El Rio, and Siniša Lasan (third place) from Rixos Premium Hotel in Dubrovnik.

The champion collected the most points in describing domestic and foreign wines "blindly", recognizing different distillates, serving aperitifs and decanting red wine, proposing wines with the given menu, correcting the wine list, knowing the world of wine, dealing with guests and more. 

The leader of the Championship was Sandi Paris, and awards and recognitions were presented to the finalists Veljko Ostojic, president of the Croatian Sommelier Club and Dr. Krešimir Mikinac, head of education.

The Croatian Sommelier Club (HSK) is a non-profit professional association founded in 1993, which today has around 500 members. The main task of HSK is the advancement of the sommelier profession, deepening the awareness of table culture, as well as the constant education of professionals and the general public.

The club has been a member of the World Association of Sommeliers (L'Association de la Sommelierie Internationale – ASI) since 1994.
