The renovated Zavratnica Bay is ready to welcome the tourist season

Velebit Nature Park announced the successful completion of the project "Revitalization of Zavratnica Bay - a protected landscape and NATURA 2000 area in the Velebit Nature Park"This project has improved the infrastructure of one of the most beautiful bays on the Croatian coast, ensured better accessibility and further preserved the natural heritage of this protected landscape.

The total value of the project is 320.000 euros excluding VAT, with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund participating with 256.000 euros, while the Velebit Nature Park provided the remaining 64.000 euros.

The works lasted from June 17 to December 13, 2024 and were successfully completed on time, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the renovated bay already this tourist season. The completed works include: the arrangement and revitalization of pedestrian paths, the installation of information panels, the preparation of project documentation, the arrangement of the lookout and other infrastructure elements.

Zavratnica Bay is now fully prepared for the upcoming tourist season and will offer visitors an even more pleasant and safe stay. Thanks to this revitalization, visitors will be able to fully enjoy the natural beauty of this unique area.

This is the first significant investment in Zavratnica since the beginning of the 20th century, i.e. since the construction of the promenade. This revitalization provides better infrastructure for visitors and additionally contributes to the protection of the natural and cultural wealth of this unique landscape, thus ensuring that Zavratnica remains authentically preserved for future generations.",  he said Mario Saban, director of the Velebit Nature Park.

The project improved conditions for visitors, enhanced safety, and further strengthened the protection of Zavratnica's natural and cultural values.
