The handball festival is a unique event in Croatian and European sports - in less than a month of this year's jubilee festival, almost 4000 handball players of all age categories, handball coaches, employees and journalists will pass through Poreč. During this 10th anniversary festival, 454 handball matches will be played in Poreč, and the city will host as many as 132 teams from all over Croatia. Around 750 handball coaches are staying in Poreč for their central seminar.

The highlight of the Handball Festival is this week, when the finals of the Cup are played in both senior competitions, as well as the finals for younger age groups.

"Poreč can proudly say that it is ready and will be a good host for everyone", emphasized the mayor of Poreč Loris Peršurić at an appropriate press conference that was organized this week in the small hall of the town hall. "We are very happy because day after day our beautiful Žatika hall - but not only it but also all the other halls in the city, and we have a total of eight - is full non-stop", underlined the mayor. "We have many years of cooperation with handball and it can be an example to others on how to raise an event to the highest possible level."

In addition to the mayor, the marketing director of the Croatian Handball Association Silivio Njirić, the president of the Poreč Sports Association Aleksandar Beaković and the director of the Poreč Handball Club Eduard Džoni attended the conference.

"Poreč has six municipal and two private halls, and that is not enough for us to meet all our needs", he stressed Aleksandar Beaković, president of the Sports Association of the city of Poreč. "We are already seriously thinking about building another training hall because we are in big trouble how to meet all the needs of city clubs, but also our guests from all possible Associations and recreational players."

"Handball club Poreč, as usual, made available all its resources and people in the organization of the Handball Festival. We are very happy that the cream of handball is back in our city", stressed Eduard Johni, vice-president of the club.

The handball festival started about 15 days ago with three finals of the junior handball categories. This week, the finals of the cadets in the men's competition are scheduled, as well as the semi-final and final matches of the Cup, and the entrance to Žatika is free for all four days of the competition.
