Zagreb County, which has already proven itself as a leader in sustainable tourism thanks to the prestigious Green Destinations certificate, has made a new step forward in strategic planning. The first regional coordination was held in the premises of the county started the process of making the Destination Management Plan.
A multisectoral meeting was held in parallel, bringing together representatives of counties, local self-government units, institutions, the private sector, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and key stakeholders, with the aim of further strengthening the position of Zagreb County as an example of sustainable tourism development.
At the meeting, the methodology and stages of creating the Destination Management Plan were presented, as well as the key needs and priorities of the stakeholders. On the basis of this planning document, which will be adopted at the level of the County Assembly, long-term and sustainable management of the tourist offer is ensured, in which all stakeholders of the tourism of this region had a voice, emphasizes the Tourist Board of Zagreb County.
"The meeting confirmed our determination to develop tourism in Zagreb County in a planned and responsible manner. This document will provide us with concrete tools for managing the destination and support a stronger connection between our cities and municipalities, as well as all tourism entities, in a common vision of a sustainable, competitive and innovative tourism product. That's why the participation of all key stakeholders was important to us. The Zagreb County destination management plan is not just a technical document, but a guide for the future of our tourism. This is an opportunity to unite resources and ensure sustainable development that respects our heritage and the local community", they ordered from Zagreb County Tourist Board.
