According to research by a British portal Post Office Travel Money which runs a price barometer every year, comparing costs in cities across Europe for UK tourists, Zagreb took 7th place on the list of the most affordable European cities.
Namely, the total cost of the so-called city break of rest is calculated based on 12 typical items for such a trip. This included, among other things, the cost of drinks, dinner for two with a bottle of local wine, two weekend nights in three-star accommodation, a city tour and city transport.
Martina Bienenfeld, director of the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb, said on that occasion: "First of all, we are happy that we were included in the mentioned research, because the selection included only those cities that the residents of Great Britain listed as their narrowest choice for visiting. It is also interesting to see that Zagreb is 5th overall in terms of the cost of consuming a meal out of three followed by a bottle of wine, and 2. at the best prices for visiting cultural and historical sights. We were happy to see this research and we believe that it will further popularize Zagreb on the UK market. In this regard, I would like to point out that, from at the beginning of the year, 16% more guests from Great Britain stayed in our city and they spent 12% more overnight stays, that is, we recorded almost 10.000 arrivals and 26.500 overnight stays.
In the price barometer, the costs for the total were investigated 35 cities, and the entire research is available HERE.
