At the end of October, the ADAC published a survey conducted during 2016 that included 1,2 million members of the German auto club.

An interesting fact is that on the way to their favorite destinations they covered an average of 970 km. In 2016, the trend of staying in one's own country continued, so Germany remains the most popular destination of German motorists with a share of 32,7% of all trips, followed by Italy (19%) and Croatia (8.6%) point out from the ADAC.

Given that German car guests are still the most interesting part of the German tourist pie for our market, Croatia's jump to third place provides valid reasons for optimism, especially when we know that we have overtaken Turkey and Austria in the past two years. To this I must add the fact that Istria is still firmly in first place among the most visited regions, ahead of South Tyrol and Lake Garda

The current situation is also reflected in the German camping market, as campsites within Germany are in demand more than ever and another record year is expected, with an estimate of around 30 million overnight stays in campsites, despite the fact that overnight stays by foreign guests are declining slightly ( the most important markets are the Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark).

Croatia in third place camping destination

The ADAC also conducted a survey among nearly 100.000 of its camping members - Germany remains the No. 1 camping destination. 29 (XNUMX%), and its most visited provinces are Southern Bavaria along the Allgäu and Schleswig-Holstein. When we talk about foreign destinations, German campers still prefer Italy (18,8%), followed by Croatia, which is chosen by 13,9% of all respondents, and France (10,3%). Favorite regions in these countries are, respectively, Lake Garda, Istria and the Atlantic coast.

We can freely conclude that there is still great potential for growth, ie the arrival of even more campers from Germany.
