In the Declaration on the protection of traditional family accommodation in tourism, it is written, among other things, that the provision of tourist accommodation with hosts must be treated as a strategic branch of the development of Croatian tourism, that family tourist accommodation where a tourist stays with a host must remain tax treated as before, with no new levies without an increase current levies.

Also, as a host, a tourism service provider should receive a special preferential tax treatment, taking into account the importance of that type of tourism and that local self-government units, i.e. their representative bodies, must be the only ones authorized to determine the amount of the lump sum per accommodation unit.

An interesting novelty and a potential solution for other cities comes to us from Mali Lošinj. As announced by Ana Kučić, the mayor of Mali Lošinj, Mali Lošinj will fully refund the increase in the flat rate per bed through incentives. "In this way, the flat rate for renters residing in the area of ​​our city will remain the same as before - €55 per bed. Tourism is a key economic branch of our city, and many citizens rely on rental income for their livelihood. Aware of the impact of this measure, I have decided to take steps to ensure stability and support for our renters", emphasized Kučić.
