The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) today released an updated map of Europe. Unfortunately, the Adriatic part of Croatia is no longer green, but orange. The color chart shows the 14-day incidence (rate) of coronavirus infection in each European country per 100.000 inhabitants.
Although much of Europe is still marked in green, except for the Croatian coast, parts of Greece, France, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Ireland are marked in orange, while Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, parts of Greece, Denmark, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are marked in red.
In the last 24 hours, 139 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus were recorded, and the number of active cases in Croatia today is 653, said the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia, which extended the current epidemiological measures for another 15 days.
Great omission of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and all related services.
What we feared most happened. For months, I have been emphasizing that Croatia must be viewed by counties, ie the NUTS3 region, and not as before in the four regions (NUTS2) according to which the entire Adriatic is in one zone. That is why at the moment our entire coast is orange.
The question is what the Minister of Tourism and Sports is doing in the meantime, apart from pointing out the same sentences from day to day and not listening to signals from the field. We have form, not content.
And what would Croatia look like on the ECDC map if we reacted and divided the epidemiological situation by counties in time, and not into 4 regions, so now our entire coast is one region? And the whole coast is orange!
The answer to that question is given by the page CroatiaCovid19.info, made by the Croatian Tourism Association (HUT).
The key item for the preparation of this year's tourist season was to be the division of Croatia on the ECDC map by counties. If that were the case, surely the whole Adriatic would not be orange at the moment.
This is a big gaffe of the entire diplomacy, primarily of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, ie Minister Nikola Brnjac. A gaffe for someone's resignation, because due to populism we have brought ourselves into the current situation in which the entire tourist season is endangered.
