Active vacation in Gorski kotar - one trail every week

Gorski kotar Tourist Board has prepared an extremely simple and original presentation of hiking trails for its visitors. As they point out, it is not important the state of fitness and whether one embarks on the adventure of an active holiday from scratch, it is important to set an annual goal, every week track one because they are a project in the Tourist Board "Gorski kotar HIKE" as many as 42 hiking trails are clearly presented on the new portal. 

By the time visitors get around to everything, there will be as many trails as there are weeks in the year. All trails are presented with, among other things, a clear description, a detailed overview of the route with the stated length of the trail, time duration, difficulty of the same, height profile, whether or not they are circular or one-way in nature, and more. 

"The project has a dual character, on the one hand it presents and promotes a destination that takes care of the quality of every visitor's experience. On the other hand, the project is based on our strategic direction of developing the well-being segment of services and health destinations in order to make the benefits of the Goran region as accessible as possible to our visitors.", pointed out Petar Hrg, director of the Tourist Board of Gorski kotar.

The first phase includes trails from about one kilometer, up to several kilometers long, as well as those intended for a pleasant walk, up to those that are more demanding. This ensures the possibility that people without fitness can venture on an active vacation that will improve their psychophysical health profile as well as their fitness.

Each trail is accompanied by a detailed illustrated tourist map on which all the attractions and Goranian cultural sights are indicated, as well as other facilities, such as cafes and restaurants. The maps show, among other things, how many sections are paved and how many sections are paved. At the same time, all maps are available in a customized digital format, which allows for easier printing. 

Some trails are fully or partially marked with hiking markings, and the markings on the ground are in the stage of being upgraded and installed. The trails are maintained by local utility companies and volunteers from mountaineering societies, which was one of the key criteria for choosing the trails. The trails are marked with .gpx tracks that can be stored in a mobile phone, which ensures easy navigation for visitors without markings in the area. 

Let's mention that Gorski kotar also has an extremely attractive overview of bicycle paths. Goranska bicycle transversal it allows visitors to plan a multi-day active vacation and is well connected to hiking trails. Lovers of traveling on two wheels have seven stages from 28 to 43 kilometers at their disposal, which makes a total of 260 kilometers, and nine capillary links offer more than 400 kilometers of unique pleasure.

In conclusion, Hrg said that both projects are entering new phases of upgrading and are intertwined with projects that aim to upgrade the quality of navigation on the roads as well. As a reminder, on the eve of the main summer tourist season, brown signaling was installed on the Zagreb-Rijeka highway. The plan is to install brown traffic signals within the destination, which includes local roads under the jurisdiction of the state and county, in order to improve the experience of visitors to the destination and strengthen the valorization of the tourist potential and contents of Gorski kotar. Systematic management of traffic and the marking of tourist attractions with brown signage will strengthen the Goran region as a whole, increase traffic safety and improve the information of visitors to the Goran region.
