Stop, look down and find a small town - is the message of a new art project Little Zagreb which brings a series of miniature installations that are set up in the center of the city of Zagreb.

In cooperation with the Zagreb Tourist Board, it is being realized this year as well art project Mali Zagreb whose miniature installations will appear on Saturday, May 7, on city streets and squares.

Mali Zagreb is a series of miniature installations that will be installed in fourteen locations in the center of Zagreb. This year's series of works is inspired trades and their actions which developed and changed along with the city throughout history. Trades opened and closed, came into being and disappeared, but they always had a shop window or a small detail that made them recognizable and that remained in our memory.

The author of the project, artist and director Filip Filković Philatz together with his collaborators (Mia Martinović, Josip Kresović and Lucija Švob) continues the story of Little Zagreb by showing carefully arranged shop windows of artisan shops, such as watchmakers, shoemakers and tailors, as well as shops and pastry shops in miniature proportions.

"In my other works, primarily the documentary series that I direct, I optimistically motivate the return to old trades and crafts. This was an ideal opportunity to stage here some of those mentioned through this project. What we sometimes lack in our vicinity, to show this time in a small size.", said the author Filip Filkovic Philatz.

The project is supported by the Zagreb Tourist Board, whose director is Martina Bienenfeld on this occasion stated that the new edition of Little Zagreb comes precisely at a time when tourist traffic in our city is further intensifying.

"Since the beginning of the year, more than half a million overnight stays have been recorded in Zagreb, and the average stay has been extended to almost 2,5 nights. Mali Zagreb, as a project that immediately grew close to all of us, represents an unobtrusive artistic attraction and creates a sustainable offer for our fellow citizens and guests. I am glad that from Saturday we will again have the opportunity to look for and look at these true artistic miniatures on the streets and squares of Zagreb. With its discreet appearance, Little Zagreb always creates a desirable moment of surprise for everyone who sees it, and in order to make the search easier, it was also made a special map covering all locations, which can be downloaded from the Visitor Centers or online, on the project and TZGZ websites.Bienenfeld points out.

The series of works Little Zagreb draws our attention to the value of small things in life, because big and significant ones can develop from them. Miniature works are inspired by the development and growth of those trades that were created a long time ago, as small family businesses, and became successful and appreciated through the perseverance and vision of their owners.

Just like last year, the installations are placed somewhere under our feet, so looking carefully and with the map, go in search of Little Zagreb. Miniature works on the streets of Zagreb will be installed from May 7 to September 30, 2022.
