Awarded Michelin awards for 2022 to the best Croatian restaurants

METRO, Michelin's global partner for the whole world, presented prestigious Michelin plaques to Croatian restaurants that were included in Michelin guide for 2022.

"The dedication of Croatian restaurants in continuously maintaining the quality of the offer and the effort invested in creating a gastronomic offer, and thus in strengthening tourism and the recognition of Croatian gastronomy, are an indisputable element of high quality, which is confirmed by the new Michelin guide. Our intention is to be the preferred partner of the HoReCa sector and to further expand cooperation with local producers and in this way to implement local ingredients on the menus of top restaurants", he said at the award ceremony Imre Horváth President of the Management Board of METRO Croatia.

The ceremony was held on the area of ​​Mašković Han, a category zero monument, which is also the westernmost building of Islamic architecture in Europe. The indigenous medieval experience with a touch of the Orient provided by the authenticity, mysticism and beauty of Mašković Han served as the main motive in creating the ceremony itself. Historical tradition interwoven with modern elements emanated in every corner of this space, giving the evening a unique expression, the arrangement of which was designed and arranged by Boris Ruzic.

Given that top gastronomy contributes to an unforgettable destination experience, the significance of the Michelin award is also recognized by the Croatian Tourist Board, one of the event's partners.

"I congratulate all the restaurants that kept their stars, i.e. their owners, chefs and hardworking teams. As of this year, Croatia has 84 restaurants that bear one of the prestigious MICHELIN marks, 6 more than last year. The selected restaurants entered the exclusive circle of the best restaurants in the world and The Croatian Tourist Board, as MICHELIN's national partner, is extremely proud of you. MICHELIN labels provide excellent promotional potential that I believe destinations will know how to valorize already in this tourist year and additionally use in the future. We are entering the very peak of the tourist season and part of the year is ahead of us when on average more than one million guests stay in Croatian destinations per day and therefore proudly display your plaques, your stars and marks", said the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić stressing that HTZ will continue to carry out numerous activities with the aim of positioning Croatia as a tourist destination with a rich and varied gastronomic offer.

It is known that all previous holders of Michelin's highest award have kept their stars. A total of 2022 restaurants were awarded the Michelin recommendation for 62, with 6 new restaurants added to the list: Taj Mahal (Dubrovnik), Johnson (Mošćenička Draga), Cinematheque (Split), Cock (Zagreb), Nav (Zagreb), The bridge (Trogir).

On the list of winners of the Bib Gourmand award, which is awarded for a great price-quality ratio, included i Restaurant Šug (Split) thus, a total of 12 restaurants in Croatia have this designation today.

Croatia can also boast of two restaurants with the MICHELIN Green Star label, which, in addition to the Zinfandel's restaurant (Zagreb), now owns Konoba Mate (Korčula).
