Be a tourist in your own city and become an ambassador of Croatian tourism

Within the project "Get to know your country", which is implemented in 2018  Association of Croatian Tourist Guide Societies on the occasion of the International Recognition Day of Croatia, on January 15, 2023 (Sunday) beginning at 12:00 p.m. organize free guided tours in cities.

Guides are intended to the local population in order to get to know their city and become ambassadors of Croatian tourism, but of course also to all other visitors and tourists. Be a tourist in your own city. Get to know your city.

We are the best narrators of our story.

A great tourist story and a very important segment in the mosaic of our tourism that we have absolutely neglected. The city is the people, so the local people are tourism and the best ambassadors of Croatian tourism. The locals give rhythm and pulse to the destination, and guests want to get to know us and our culture of living, customs, our stories… because that is the very essence of tourism.

Over 40 cities have so far participated in the Get to know your country project, according to ZDTVH. 

In conclusion, this is an extremely important topic, getting to know your city and turning citizens into ambassadors of Croatian tourism. For more information about the locations in each destination, look for them on the website of your tourist board.

Association of Associations of Tourist Guides of Croatia (ZDTVH) was founded in 2005 and brings together 21 associations of tourist guides from all regions of Croatia. Tourist guides interpret and present cultural heritage, which is the only thing that exempts us from globalization and represents our entire national corpus. Therefore, we can rightly say that tourist guides are the squires of Croatian cultural identity.
