Numerous metropolises and European towns are closing their centers for motorized vehicles and developing solutions to encourage their residents and tourists to use bicycles or other sustainable transportation solutions. It is therefore not surprising that, according to estimates, the global market for urban mobility platforms will reach a value of around $25 billion by 2035 with Europe as the largest market.
On such platforms comes a new, completely unique, Croatian urban mobility solution as part of the cycle tourism product, Bikademy-a. In the one of the same name, completely redesigned mobile application feature is included "Challenges" whose goal is encouraging daily cycling with appropriate monthly rewards.
Namely, this feature is a challenge in which everyone can participate in four categories according to the daily mileage: 0-10 km, 10-20 km, 20-60 km, 60+ km.
During the month, users can participate in all four categories depending on the kilometers traveled on a particular day. For example, a user cycled 6 km one day and 26 km the next. The first day falls into the category of 0-10 km, and the activity of the second day into the category of 20-40 km.
By tracking kilometers the saving of carbon dioxide emissions is also monitored while cycling compared to driving a car. According to research by scientists from Oxford, it is enough to choose a bicycle instead of a car once a day to reduce our average carbon footprint by up to 67%.
"We chose four categories because almost everyone can ride a bike and it's not just for athletes. We hope to encourage many people to cycle to the neighborhood store, to work or to visit family and friends.", said Krešimir Herceg, owner of Bikademy.
To participate in a challenge with other users, they are required mobile application, bicycle and internet connection.

This feature is a useful tool for companies working on sustainable practices to motivate their employees to cycle to work. This leads to other advantages, such as better physical and mental health of employees. The interface specially adapted to the company shows a table of employees in all categories, the total kilometers traveled and a numerical record of the total CO2 savings.
