Brnjac: We are extremely pleased that Zadar will host II. of the World Congress of Sports Tourism

Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac today he is in Madrid with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the World Tourism Organization regarding the holding of II. of the World Congress of Sports Tourism.

"We are extremely pleased that Croatia will host such an important international event, and I thank the World Tourism Organization for its excellent cooperation. Sports tourism is one of the fastest growing special forms of tourism, and the Ministry has recognized it in its strategic activities as a leader in the development of tourist destinations. In the Strategy development of sustainable tourism until 2030, we highlighted sports and active tourism as an important potential for the development of year-round and more territorially balanced tourism. Croatia has so far hosted numerous international sports events, as well as numerous sports teams, so this Congress is an excellent opportunity for even better positioning of our country in terms of sports tourism", said Brnjac.

UNWTO recognized the Ministry of Tourism and Sports as an ideal partner in the organization of this event precisely because of the synergy of the two sectors, and Croatia as a destination can serve as an excellent example of the development of sports tourism.

"The trust of the World Tourism Organization, which chose Croatia as the host and co-organizer of such an important and large international gathering, confirms the status and reputation of our country as a quality tourist and sports destination. We are a country with great tourism and sports achievements, and as such we are an ideal host which, I am sure, will justify the trust shown and, together with its partners, prepare a high-quality, rich and interesting program for numerous international participants of the congress. of the fastest growing segments in tourism", said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board.

The World Sports Tourism Congress will be held on April 26 and 27, 2023 in Zadar, which was chosen precisely for its rich sports tradition and tourist offer, and will gather more than 300 international participants from the fields of tourism and sports.
