The Tourist Board of the Split-Dalmatia County (TZ SDŽ) in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics in Split and the Institute for Tourism signed a contract on the development of Action plan for the development of Dalmatian Zagora - Split hinterland.
This represents the next step in the cooperation between the aforementioned institutions, after the contract on the development of the Strategy for the Development of the Dalmatian Zagora - Split hinterland was signed in May last year. The strategy included a comprehensive analysis of the state of Zagora, while the Action Plan, which is expected to be completed by June 2024, should define concrete measures and activities for the tourism development of Zagora.
They attended the signing of the contract Ivana Vladović, director of TZ SDŽ, Vinko Muštra, dean of the Faculty of Economics, Damir Krešić, director of the Institute for Tourism, Stipe Čogelja, deputy prefect of SDŽ as well as representatives of the city of Trilj, municipalities of Klis, Dicmo, Otok, Hrvace and representatives of the TZs of Sinj, Dugopolje and Vrlica.
"We wanted to approach the development of Dalmatian Zagora from a scientifically based basis in order to preserve the quality of life of the local population and achieve year-round, sustainable and ecological tourism. First of all, we must develop tourism according to our citizens, and we must familiarize our people with the possibilities and the offer of the Split hinterland. For the implementation of such a complex project, first of all, efficient communication between various stakeholders is key, starting with local self-government units and tourist boards, to whom I thank for opening the doors of Dalmatian Zagora to us." she stated Ivana Vladović, director of TZ SDŽ.

Damir Krešić, the director of the Institute for Tourism emphasized that tourism in Dalmatinska Zagora largely depends on domestic visitors.
"Local self-government units in the area of Zagora, as well as local tourist boards, will have ready-made tools and guidelines for the development of tourism in their areas after the creation of this document. It is clear to us that the tourism potential of Zagora is not used nearly as much as it could be, but we must know that there is no quality and sustainable tourism without strong domestic demand. In this case, domestic demand comes from the area of SDŽ and surrounding counties that gravitate to that area, so it is crucial to stimulate the interest of local peopleKrešić added.
The county will provide support to everyone in the implementation of this project, while the makers of the strategy (EFST and the Institute for Tourism) indicated that a participatory approach, which includes communication and mobilization by local stakeholders, is necessary in order to the adopted goals were finally implemented in practice, he concluded Stipe Čogelja, deputy prefect of the Split-Dalmatia County.
