Civic initiative TENANTS TOGETHER from Split launched an initiative and an online petition for the deapartmentization of residential buildings, i.e. banning apartments in residential buildings.
As they state from the civic initiative, they are addressing young people who cannot solve their housing issue, those who have an apartment, but their quality of life is impaired due to apartment building, people who suffer due to mass tourism, and all other well-intentioned people who are ready to change things on better.
"We all confirm with our signature that we support the Citizens' Initiative TENANTS TOGETHER and request that multi-apartment buildings in Croatia be de-apartmentized because they are intended for housing, not tourism. Apartmentization of residential buildings is illegal, it violates the guaranteed constitutional right to a peaceful, dignified and inviolable family home. It is not in accordance with the Act on catering activities, the Act on spatial planning, the Act on property and other real rights, and with tax regulations.
We are looking for the reaction of the ministries responsible for tourism, spatial planning, housing and demography, which we call on to coordinate policies and adopt concrete measures as soon as possible. In this way, peace would return to apartment owners in their daily lives, residents would return to city centers, there would be loyal real estate competition on the market, and young people would have the opportunity to stay in their country, where they would rent or buy an apartment for themselves and your future family.
In addition, we are looking for concrete measures, both by the state and local self-governments, to solve the mass tourism that has suffocated Croatian towns and cities, where riotous tourists are disrespecting our history and culture and thus sending a message to the world that everyone in Croatia can behave as they wish. Such tourists should therefore be regularly and severely punished.
We firmly declare ENOUGH! disorder, disrespect and savagery of individual tourists in our cities and towns, and we call on the state bodies to finally and URGENTLY protect their citizens and our beautiful Croatia." they state from the initiative.

In Spain, a short-term rental will require the consent of the neighbors in the building
Spain will reform part of its real estate law to allow neighbors to veto the decision of individual owners in the same building who want to rent apartments to tourists, Spain's housing minister announced.
The aforementioned legal reform aims to "empower" neighbors by having them give permission for such types of accommodation before they can advertise for short-term rent.
