Today, Croatia Airlines performed the first international commercial flight on the Zagreb-Frankfurt route with the new Airbus A220-300, symbolically marking the 35th birthday of the Croatian airline, which was founded on this date in 1989. The first international passengers in the new A220 aircraft took off on the same route on which Croatia Airlines made its first international flight in 1992, thus the company began to connect Croatia with the world in regular passenger traffic.
Exactly three and a half decades ago, on August 7, 1989, it was registered in Zagreb Zagreb Airlines dd (Zagal), an air transport company, which started operating in December of the same year, providing a service for transporting postal items. About a year later, on July 23, 1990, Swain changed its name to Croatia Airlines dd, national airline for the transport of passengers, goods and mail.
The first passenger flight of Croatia Airlines took place on May 5, 1991 on the Zagreb - Split route, which established regular passenger traffic within Croatia, and connecting Croatia with the world began on April 5, 1992 with the first international flight on the Zagreb - Frankfurt route.
