Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović said in Neum that Zagreb will try to speed up the border crossing in order to ensure a successful tourist season in the area of the only maritime town in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Božinović, after meeting with the President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, assessed that Neum is important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for Croatia, and announced that border crossing will be facilitated during the tourist season.

"The economic success of any part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially a successful season in Neum, is in the interest not only of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not only of the Croats who live here, but also in the interest of neighboring cities and municipalities in Croatia.", said the minister.

He added that the Croatian border police will try to improve their work in order to show 'flexibility and care'. "On this part of the coast, we have been directed at each other for centuries, and certainly no one intends to put up any barricades there. Everything we can speed up, make more effective for the benefit of all the people living in this part of BiH and Croatia is our task", said Bozinović.

About the proposals at the joint session

Minister of Finance Marko Primorac added that the customs officials will also try to facilitate the conditions for the transition in the Neum area, as well as the business operations of entrepreneurs.

The proposals will be discussed at the joint session of the Croatian Government and the BiH Council of Ministers, which will be held in Zagreb next week.
