The award ceremony "Marko Poloslavni putopisac" for the best journalistic tourist stories in 2016 was held at the Journalists' House. The awards are given by the Croatian branch of the World Federation of Tourist Journalists and Writers in Tourism FIJET in cooperation with the Association of Tourist Journalists of the Croatian Journalists' Association.

At the suggestion of FIJET, the award was shared with foreign journalists by Georges Younes, longtime journalist and editor of Iktissadiat magazine from Lebanon, and Kamenko Milenković, longtime journalist and editor of RT Vojvodina, for a tourist report on Antalya (Turkey), published in Iktissadiat Magazine: ' Antalya a message of peace and tolarance '.

They received the first Marco Polo award Saša Pjanić, for the travelogue “Bilogora - the beauty of free fall” and Šime Strikoman for the tourist film “Dragon Village” and the presentation of Croatia and Croatian tourism through the “Millennium World” - pictures and films that have traveled the world. Tanja Božić, awarded a medal with the character of Marco Polo for her contribution to the affirmation of travelogues and tourist journalism, points out that I have a nice bride at home, Marija Jurić Zagorka, to whom this Marco Polo came just fine as a company "It is an award that, without false modesty, really flatters. I am infinitely proud of her and grateful to everyone who recognized my work and nominated me, because she came in an extremely difficult year for me, personally and professionally. As a picture speaks a thousand words, this award is due to my dear colleague, photographer and photography editor in Slano & Slatko magazine, Danijel Berković. Without his eye, sense of detail and masterful knowledge, the stories would have been deprived of that waaaaau effect that readers had leafing through the magazine. ” pointed out Tanja Božić, a long-time journalist of Večernji list and editor of the magazine Slano & Slatko

When asked how it was in the biggest crisis and drop in circulation in all media to launch a new magazine Slatko & Slano, a magazine for curious gourmets, researchers and travelers through the world of aromas and scents, Tanja said that they created a magazine that the Croatian market has not had. ” A magazine that has everything you need - author's texts, columnists with cover, we discovered talents, we didn't lag behind to be called celebrities, we traveled, researched, took photos, moved concepts and boundaries… Let someone dare to say that there is no investigative journalism in gastronomy and travelogues! ” pointed out Božić and added that this is Večernjak's biggest challenge so far when it comes to specialized magazines.

Just when I was thinking of leaving journalism forever extremely disappointed with what it came down to, not to say - slept, Marco Polo answered me, Tanja Božić points out and concludes that the passion for discovering, writing and merging two loves, journalism and tourism, is still won. “Once a journalist, forever a journalist. The story is hidden in the seemingly most banal thing, it just needs to be recognized. And through 25 years of working in all segments of daily journalism, I know that very well. I will not give up. I combine two great loves - journalism and tourism. The combination is ideal for today's most popular genre - travelogues. One single "little thing" disturbed the joy and pride of the award - no one, but none of the colleagues from my reaction said congratulations. Not a single word. And we've been working together for a quarter of a century. There is no room for bitterness because Marco Polo is mine anyway. ” concluded Tanja Božić, and in addition to Večernji list, you can also follow her travelogues on her Facebook page Gastrobajterica  or on Evening blogosphere .
