Almost 900 overnight stays were achieved during the extended weekend

In the period from April 28 to May 1, more than 256 arrivals and over 890 overnight stays were realized in Croatia.

During the extended weekend on the occasion of Labor Day, i.e. in the period from April 28 to May 1 in Croatia, according to system data eVisitor accomplished more than 256 thousand arrivals and over 890 thousand overnight stays, which compared to the same period last year represents a growth in arrivals from 49% and in overnight stays from 42%. At the same time, the most overnight stays were realized in WifeAt Kvarner and u Split-Dalmatia County, and in terms of destinations in Dubrovnik, I deny it, Rovinj, Umag, Zagreb i Split.

"The results of this extended weekend confirm that our country is an increasingly interesting year-round destination, and considering Croatia's entry into Schengen, it is also a more accessible destination for short and frequent weekend trips. Namely, these days our most numerous guests were Slovenians, Poles, Austrians, Germans and Italians, and it is interesting that the Dutch and the British were also well represented.", he said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, adding that the results from the previous part of the year are the best announcement of the main summer season.  

When it comes to the results achieved during the first four months of this year, system data eVisitor show that in the mentioned period in our country over 2 million arrivals i 5,9 million overnight stays. The above in relation to the same period last year represents a growth of 28 place in arrivals and 17% in overnight stays, i.e. growth from 4% in overnight stays compared to the same period of the record year 2019. At the same time, the most numerous were guests from the market Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, the UK and the USA, while in terms of destinations, the most overnight stays were realized in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Split, Poreč i Opatija.

"We are pleased that the positive trends from the beginning of the year have continued during this extended weekend, which is a reconfirmation that Croatia is a desirable destination even outside the summer months. We are especially happy that tourists are increasingly recognizing the attractiveness and the offer of our continental counties, which almost all achieve better results than in 2019. Both contribute to the fulfillment of our strategic goals - the development of year-round and more regionally balanced tourism. Considering the excellent results so far, we optimistically welcome the main part of the tourist year, which is ahead of us.", she said Nikolina Brnjac, Minister of Tourism and Sports.

Positive trends were also recorded during the month itself April in which a total of more than 1,1 million arrivals i 3,3 million overnight stays, which compared to April last year represents a growth of 26% in arrivals and 16% in overnight stays. The most numerous guests in April were from the market Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, the UK and the USA, while in terms of destinations, the most overnight stays were realized in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Split, Poreč i Opatija.
