Tourist traffic in the first five months of this year for the Split-Dalmatia County represents an excellent introduction to the main part of the business year. In total, 506 guests arrived in the county, who realized 1,687 million tourist overnight stays, so in that pre-season part of the year, tourist traffic grew in terms of arrivals by 37%, and in overnight stays by 24%. Guests who achieved the highest tourist traffic in this county in the first five months were Germans, Croats, guests from the United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the USA, France, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria. In the pre-season period so far, the largest tourist traffic was in Split, followed by Makarska, Podstrana, Brela, Seget, Hvar...

May was equally good, with 264 guests visiting the Split-Dalmatia County, which represents a growth of 35%. At the same time, 955 thousand overnight stays were recorded (a growth of 28%). Split had the most guests in May too, with 255 overnight stays, Makarska had 84, Tučepi 50, the town of Hvar 45, and Supetar and Seget 40 overnight stays each.

Good results at Split Airport as well

Split Airport is facing another exceptional business year, because in May alone they accepted and dispatched a total of 315.855 passengers, i.e. 65 passengers more than last May. As these are truly exceptional results, it is confirmed by the fact that they exceeded the pre-pandemic year of 2019 by 5 thousand passengers. In the first 5 months of 2023, a total of 586 passengers were recorded at Resnik, while around 450 new passengers are expected in June. This would already welcome the millionth passenger on Resnik in the first half of the year.

This year, Split is connected by direct connections to a number of cities, including Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Paris, Toulouse, Marseille, Nantes, Lille, Lyon, Vilnius, Gdansk, Riga , Katowice, Lublin, Poznan, Wroclaw Bordeaux, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Rome, Milan, Oslo, Warsaw, Vienna, Dublin, Belgrade, Helsinki and Stockholm and others. 

This year, and throughout the summer season, the national carrier Croatia Airlines will be one of the busiest airlines in terms of the number of flights to and from Split. As previously announced, during this season Croatia Airlines planes will directly connect Split with a total of 20 European destinations, i.e. 21 airports - Amsterdam, Athens, Vienna, Berlin, Bucharest, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London Gatwick and London Heathrow, Lyon , Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Rome, Skopje, Stockholm and Zurich.

In addition to the national carrier, during this year another fifty airlines have their own direct flights to and from Split, and at the peak of the tourist year they will connect Split with almost a hundred cities in Europe.
