The Tourist Board of Kvarner, the Croatian Tourist Board and Croatia Airlines are conducting a joint promotional project Tastes of Kvarner this year. In the period from August 1 to November 30, 2024 specially designed meals will be served on Croatia Airlines planes, which based on the culinary diversity of the Kvarner region in which coastal, mountain and island cuisine are intertwined.
Croatia Airlines will offer its passengers in domestic and international traffic, in business class, a large snack box containing sausage with rosemary, green olive paste, crackers with corn and sage, biscuits with dried figs and biscuits with chestnuts. On flights of less than one hour, a small snack box will be offered containing sausage with rosemary, crackers with cornflower and sage, and a biscuit with chestnut, while passengers in economy class will be offered crackers with cornflower and sage.
On this occasion, a press conference and presentation was held at the Keight Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Opatija, where the prefect of the PGŽ Zlatko Komadina and the director of the Kvarner Tourist Board, Ph.D., spoke about the joint project Tastes of Kvarner. "For the second year in a row, this very interesting and successful project of gastronomic promotion of our county on Croatia Airlines is an integral part of not only our long-term cooperation with the Croatian national carrier, but also the promotion of Kvarner as a European region of gastronomy in 2026. I believe that travelers on their trip to enjoy the specific foods of Kvarner, but also that this small "gastro trip" will be an incentive for them to visit and explore us. And these kinds of projects and ways of highlighting gastronomy represent a step forward and further work on the development of gastronomy, especially now that Kvarner has been declared The European region of gastronomy, which does not only mean promotion, but also the protection and promotion of local food and culture, sustainable development, increasing quality, increasing visibility, then encouraging the cross-sectoral connection of tourism, agriculture, gastronomy, culture, education, health and other sectors", said the director Peršić Živadinov.
