More than 620.000 euros for association projects in tourism

The Minister of Tourism and Sports made a decision on the allocation of funds for 29 projects of tourism associations in the total value of 628.489 euros.

The decision was made on the basis of a public tender for the co-financing of tourism association projects in 2023 with the aim of ensuring sufficient, qualified and competent staff for the purpose of developing sustainable, accessible tourism, by developing the awareness of target groups about career development opportunities in tourism. Funds were allocated in two program areas: in the program area of ​​encouraging career development in tourism, EUR 386.276 for 17 projects, and in the program area of ​​encouraging the development of accessible tourism, EUR 242.213 for 12 projects.

"Professional associations in tourism and hospitality are our important partners in the development of sustainable tourism. The development of accessible tourism is highlighted as a priority in our Strategy, and in addition to projects like these, we also encourage investments in the accessibility of tourist infrastructure. Encouraging the development of careers in tourism is extremely important measure by which we contribute to the quality of education and training, as well as the number of employees in tourism. This is why we have increased the amount for this purpose this year and we are glad that many associations are reporting quality projects that contribute to the competitiveness and success of our tourism.", said the minister Nikolina Brnjac.

When selecting projects, the willingness of associations to implement the reported projects was taken into account, with an emphasis on capacity, partnership, associated partners, experience, as well as focus on target groups, expected results and project sustainability. Projects could be registered and implemented by professional associations in the tourism and/or hospitality industry, as well as associations whose activities are related to equalizing opportunities for people with disabilities.

From 2016 to 2022, 123 projects were co-financed in the total amount of 2.176.700 euros.
