On the occasion of the International Recognition Day of the Republic of Croatia ( January 14) and this year in the organization Communities of associations of tourist guides in Croatia (ZDTVH) marks the project "Get to know your country" in which grds organize free guided tours in over 50 cities.
Guides are intended to the local population in order to get to know their city and become ambassadors of Croatian tourism, but of course also to all other visitors and tourists. Be a tourist in your own city.
We are the best narrators of our story.
"The programs in all cities (with less justified exceptions) start at the same time; on January 14, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Considering that in the past years we have received very good reactions from a large number of citizens as well as from almost all the media, it has become a kind of tradition, we decided to repeat it this year as well and to mark the Day of International Recognition of Croatia in the same way, to point out the importance of tourism workers for Croatia's international reputation as well as the importance of national identity and cultural heritage.
We invite all citizens to get to know the cities all over Croatia and together with us discover the hidden stories they tell. We believe that every citizen of our country can be a promoter and ambassador of his homeland, point out the importance of tourism workers for Croatia's international reputation, as well as the importance of national identity and cultural heritage. In addition to thanking all fellow volunteers, thanks to whom this project amounts to EUR 0,00 and an immense amount of love, we also thank you, the media, for your help, because without you and our fellow citizens, this project would not survive." she stated Kristina Nuić Prka, President of the Association of Tourist Guide Associations of Croatia.
A great tourist story and a very important segment in the mosaic of our tourism that we have absolutely neglected. The city is the people, so the local people are tourism and the best ambassadors of Croatian tourism. The locals give rhythm and pulse to the destination, and guests want to get to know us and our culture of living, customs, our stories… because that is the very essence of tourism.
