The HTZ and Expedia campaign achieved bookings of over seven million dollars

During the campaign, 18% of the total number of overnight stays in Croatia booked on Expedia were generated, and Croatia moved up 12 places in searches.

Croatian tourist agency this year also launched a promotional campaign on Expedia, one of the most important travel platforms on the American market, all with the aim of stronger positioning of Croatia, presenting the overall Croatian tourist offer and encouraging the arrival of as many American travelers as possible to Croatian destinations.

The campaign was carried out during the period from mid-April to the end of August this year, achieved excellent results, according to the HTZ, and this is best shown by the data on generated booking, respectively accommodation and plane ticket reservations made which exceed seven million US dollars.

"Cooperation with Expedia is one of the most important activities for the promotion of Croatian tourism on the American market, both because of the high-quality and effective representation of our country, and because of the direct encouragement of travel enthusiasts to visit Croatian destinations. We are extremely satisfied with the results achieved, which prove that the interest of tourists from distant countries for Croatia is continuously growing, and this particularly applies to the American market, from which we achieve the largest number of arrivals and overnight stays when we talk about markets outside of Europe.", he said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, adding that the system of tourist boards was included in the campaign this year.

Namely, with Croatian National Tourist Board as the bearer of cooperation with by expedia, and participated in the campaign tourist boards of Split-Dalmatia and Zadar Counties, as well as tourist association of the city of Zadar.

As part of the project, a content platform was created as a unique information point for potential tourists "Always in season" with the prominent tourist offer of Croatia throughout all seasons, which was additionally promoted through online advertising and advertising on social networks.

HTZ adds that it was generated during the campaign itself 18 place of the total number of overnight stays in Croatia booked on Expedia, and Croatia as a search destination rose by 12 places, from 54th place before the campaign to 42nd place during the campaign.

According to system data eVisitor in Croatia, almost was realized from the American market during the first nine months 630 thousand arrivals and over 1,8 million overnight stays which compared to last year represents a growth of 33 percent in arrivals and 23 percent in overnight stays. Looking at counties, American guests spent the most nights in Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties, and looking at destinations in Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Hvar, Rovinj and Zadar.
