In Croatia last year, 20.6 million arrivals and 108 million tourist overnights were achieved

In commercial facilities, i.e. hotels, camps and household facilities, compared to 2019, there was a growth in overnight stays of 1,2%

According to system data eVisitor, which contains tourist traffic realized in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter (eCrew system), in Croatia is in 2023 accomplished more than 20.6 million arrivals i 108 million overnight stays, which compared to 2022 represents a growth of 9% in arrivals i 3% in overnight stays. Let's add how the stated total result of all accommodation capacities compared to 2019 represents equalization of the results, while in itself commercial facilities, i.e. hotels, campsites and household facilities compared to 2019 realized growth in overnight stays of 1,2%.

"Croatia further strengthened its position as one of the most desirable European destinations in the last year, and this is proven by other indicators, in addition to the results of tourist traffic, such as income from tourism, which is also growing and which is predicted to be a record. Taking into account the current situation on broadcast markets, as well as the global geopolitical and macroeconomic situation, we can say that 2024 will be a challenging year, but also a year in which, through the implementation of our promotional activities and campaigns, we plan to maintain the competitiveness of Croatian tourism by encouraging sustainability and quality." he said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, while thanking all tourism workers for another excellent tourist year.

When we segment Croatia's tourism result by counties, last year the most overnight stays were realized in Wife (30 million overnight stays, which is +2% compared to 2022), Split-Dalmatia County (20.2 million overnight stays, which is +3% compared to 2022) and on Kvarner (18.5 million overnight stays, which is +1% compared to 2022).

"We are satisfied with tourist traffic and financial results in 2023, as well as the fact that last year we realized a number of extremely important activities, which will contribute to the further management of tourism development. We had the best pre-season in history and an extremely successful post-season as well, which is an indicator that we are well on our way to achieving year-round tourism, which is one of our main strategic goals. In addition, the first umbrella Act on Tourism was passed, which gave us the tools to manage tourism in the direction of sustainability, and we have secured financial resources, which through the National Recovery Plan and resilience, and that through the State Budget, we have created all the prerequisites to welcome the year 2024 with great optimism for an even stronger realization of all our goals." she pointed out Nikolina Brnjac, Minister of Tourism and Sports. 

Increases in overnight stays are also recorded by Zadar County with 15.2 million overnight stays, Dubrovnik-Neretva with 8.6 million realized overnight stays and Lika-Senj County with 3.4 million overnight stays. At the same time, in the city of Zagreb 2.5 million overnight stays were achieved last year, which represents a growth of 13% compared to 2022, while on the rest of the continent last year, a total of over 2.6 million overnight stays were achieved, which also represents a growth of 13% compared to 2022. Seen according to destinations, the most overnight stays last year were realized in Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Split te Umag.

Seen according to markets, last year the most overnight stays were made by guests from the market Germany (23.6 million overnight stays), Croatia (13 million overnight stays), Slovenian (10.6 million overnight stays), Austria (8.4 million overnight stays), Poland (6.7 million overnight stays), Czech Republic (5.5 million overnight stays), Italy (4.2 million overnight stays), of the UK (3.7 million overnight stays), Hungary (3.6 million overnight stays), Slovakia (3.3 million overnight stays) and Of the Netherlands (3.1 million overnight stays).

In December, 17% more arrivals and 10% more overnight stays were achieved

According to the data of the eVisitor system, during December last year in Croatia, a total of over 394 thousand arrivals i 938 thousand overnight stays, which compared to 2022 represents a growth of 17% in arrivals and 10% more in overnight stays.

In December, the most overnight stays were made by guests from markets Croatia (316 thousand overnight stays), Slovenian (99 thousand overnight stays), Austria (85 thousand overnight stays), BiH (66 thousand overnight stays), Germany (62 thousand overnight stays) and Italy (47 thousand overnight stays), and the most popular destinations in terms of overnight stays in December are Zagreb, Opatija, Split, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Rovinj and Zadar.

Let's add how it is New Year's Eve in Croatia it was over 90 thousand guests, which is about 12% more than the number of guests who welcomed the year 2023 in Croatia.
