As part of the Days of Croatian Tourism, which took place from November 9 to 11, 2023, a ceremony was held in Rovinj to award the Annual Croatian Tourism Awards.

The award was given to the best employees from the tourism sector in 2023, au four categories the victory was won by tourism stakeholders from the Split-Dalmatia County. 

In the Nautical Tourism Award category, the award was won by a charter company "Croatia yachting doo", while the hotel "Lemon Garden" in Sutivan was the best in the category "Unique accommodation of the year".

The Croatian Tourist Board also awarded the traditional award "Man - key to success - employee of the year" to individuals in 19 categories. In the category Employees in the system of tourist boards, she won the award Sara Salamunić, an employee of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board (TZ SDŽ ), while Danijela Cvjetičanin Vrljac, head of the "Katarina Line" office in Split, received recognition in the Agency employee category. 

"We are proud that this year we have four winners from the Split-Dalmatia County among the awardees who have earned this recognition with their work, creativity and dedication. And as we approach the end of this tourist year with a view to the next, we are aware that only through dedicated work, a focus on our authenticity and the beauty of our destination, and with sustainable development principles, all stakeholders in tourism have predispositions for excellence. People are truly the key to the success of tourism, and therefore I believe that these awards are a motivation for all of us to continue building the success of our county's tourism." she stated Ivana Vladović, director of TZ SDŽ.

Days of tourism panel discussion

Vladović also participated in a panel discussion on the first day of the Croatian Tourism Day in Rovinj "Journey to sustainability - destination experiences!" at which it was said about challenges faced by the most popular destinations in the Split-Dalmatia County, and she said that due to too much concentration in a small area, we have come to pressure on the infrastructure in a short time.

"We are forced to introduce potential guests to all destinations that they have not discovered, both on the coast and islands, as well as inland and with all the smaller places that enrich our overall offer. Also, we must encourage them to visit us throughout the year, not only during July and August when Dalmatia is overcrowded" she concluded Vladovic.   

The Split-Dalmatia County is an excellent main part of the tourist year, continued with extraordinary tourist traffic in the post-season period.

According to data from the eVisitor system and the office of the TZ of Split-Dalmatia County, during October only in commercial accommodation there were 188.011 arrivals and 677.525 overnight stays, which represents a growth of 27 percent in arrivals and 19 percent in overnight stays compared to the previous year. In the first ten months of this year, a total of 3.528.069 arrivals (an increase of 11 percent) and 17.776.016 overnight stays (an increase of 4 percent) were realized in the county in commercial accommodation compared to the previous year, i.e. 99% of the overnight stays realized in 2019 .

The most popular part of the tourist year so far was Split, which, according to HTZ data, was the third most visited city in Croatia, alongside Dubrovnik and Zagreb. In addition to Split, the most visited tourist places in the Split-Dalmatia County, which recorded an increase in the number of overnight stays compared to last year, are Makarska, Omiš, Baška Voda, Tučepi, Seget and Hvar.

Nautical tourism in the area of ​​Split-Dalmatia County was also successful, so from January to the end of October this year, 216.718 arrivals of boaters and 1.459.496 overnight stays were achieved, which is a 1,5 percent increase in arrivals, and overnight stays increased slightly compared to the same period. last year. In terms of overnight stays in nautical charters, sailors from Germany are in first place with 205 overnight stays, followed by sailors from the USA, Austria and the United Kingdom.
