In the period from January to July 2024, 65 foreign cruise ships entered Croatian seaports and made 357 cruises. There were 515 thousand passengers on those ships, who stayed in Croatia for 801 days.

The number of trips by foreign cruise ships in the period from January to July 2024 increased by 13,7% compared to the first seven months of 2023, and the number of passengers on these ships increased by 25,2%. The number of days spent by these ships in the territorial sea of the Republic of Croatia increased by 9,3%, according to data from the State Statistics Office (DZS).

Out of a total of 357 round trips by foreign ships, most of them were made in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (48,5%) and Split-Dalmatia County (23,3%), which is a total of 71,8%. The port of Dubrovnik had the most visits by foreign cruise ships

The port of Dubrovnik had the most visits by foreign cruise ships (241 visits), followed by the ports of Split (152 visits), Zadar (107 visits), Hvar (58 visits), Korčula (41 visits), Šibenik (40 visits), and Rovinj (37 visits).

While other countries are reducing the number of passengers from cruise ships due to excessive tourism, and the same number is increasing in Croatia, the question arises, do we need passengers from cruise ships in the summer months? The period when we have the highest number of tourists and the highest load on the entire infrastructure.
