In the period from January to July 2023, 60 foreign cruise ships entered Croatian seaports and made 314 cruises. There were 411 passengers on those ships, who stayed in Croatia for 733 days, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CSO).
The number of trips by foreign cruise ships in the period from January to July 2023 is lower by 4,6% compared to the first seven months of 2022, but the number of passengers on these ships is higher by 40,0%. The number of days spent by these ships in the territorial sea of the Republic of Croatia increased by 11,4%.
Out of a total of 314 round trips by foreign ships, most of them were made in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (50,0%) and Split-Dalmatia County (25,5%), which is a total of 75,5%. The remaining 24,5% of trips were made in the following counties: Zadar (11,5%), Šibenik-Knin (5,4%), Primorsko-Goranska (4,1%) and Istria (3,5%).
The most visited port of Dubrovnik
The port of Dubrovnik had the most visits by foreign cruise ships (236 visits), followed by the ports of Split (147 visits), Zadar (77 visits), Hvar (63 visits), Korčula (52 visits), Šibenik (51 visits) and Rovinj ( 35 visits).
Foreign cruise ships in the first seven months of 2023 sailed under the flags of 13 countries. Most cruises were made by ships under the flag of the Bahamas, 90 trips, which is 28,7% of the total trips made in the first seven months of 2023. The following are cruises by foreign ships under the flag of Malta (86 trips), Panama (38 trips) and Norway (26 trips).
