The Easter holidays marked the beginning of the part of the year in which the tourism of the Split-Dalmatia County experiences its spring blossoming and liveliness, which give the tourist places the first large groups of pre-season guests. Spring in Central Dalmatia offers a handful of interesting traditional, religious and cultural events that will make guests' stay unforgettable.

"Announcements and the number of reservations in the largest hotels, but increasingly also with our enterprising hosts in family accommodation, speak of significant arrivals of groups of pre-season guests who are welcomed by renovated hotels, increasingly high-quality family accommodation, modern campsites, well-equipped marinas... Readiness of tourist places to be good hosts in the pre-season, is accompanied by the exceptional growth of air traffic to Split", points out Ivana Vladović, director of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board.

So far, 52 airlines have been confirmed that will connect Split with 89 destinations, which will certainly result in increased tourist traffic. Let us remind you that Split Airport was the busiest during the last summer season, and based on the published summer flight schedule for 2023, almost all airlines from 2019 returned.

"Extremely appreciative of the choice of our pre-season guests to spend their first vacation of the year in Central Dalmatia, our hosts made an effort to come up with a series of events. This spring, they are waiting for gastronomic events, sports competitions and cultural and entertainment attractions, festivals and economic meetings, but also the new "Green Line" of the tourist bus that takes guests from Split every day to Dalmatinska Zagora and tours of the interesting places there. All this is done to make the stay in Split-Dalmatin County as meaningful as possible for each of our guests.", adds Vladović.

Numerous events and manifestations have been prepared for April and the beginning of May. In Kaštel Gomilica until April 16, the Days of Croatian Small Shipbuilding will bring together domestic manufacturers of boats and renowned brands of nautical and fishing equipment, and over fifty companies from the nautical field and over twenty companies offering tourist services and products are expected. Next weekend, on April 15 to be exact, the Jelsa Trail race will be held, which will be spiced up with good Mediterranean food and klapa singing. Next comes the Mineral expo SPLIT fair, where the largest number of exhibitors have signed up so far with an offer of precious and semi-precious stones, crystals, minerals, fossils, jewelry...

The festival of contemporary circus "Festival of unusual families" in Split will take place from April 18 to 22, and will bring nineteen performances from eight countries in five days, in which 44 circus artists will participate. Furthermore, at the 33rd Croatian Drama Festival Marulićevi dani, from April 21 to 28 in Split, 11 selected titles of plays produced by theaters from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia will be performed.

International Labor Day has been traditionally celebrated in Baška Voda in a particularly fun way for 43 years. The festival starts on April 29, and the peak is on May 1, when there will be unmissable fun games such as an international donkey race, tallow beams, alka in carts... in which tourists can participate along with the hosts. Numerous cultural, entertainment and sports events will once again celebrate the feast of the patron saint of Split, St. Dujma, on May 7, and the programs will start already in mid-April and last until the second half of May.

"There are days ahead of us that will largely determine the course of the season and show how ready we are to receive pre-season guests who will spread the good word about us.", concluded Vladović.

Optimism is not without foundation, because the first quarter of this year was extremely successful. Even 31% more guest arrivals and 15% more overnight stays were recorded. In the Split-Dalmatia County, from the beginning of January to the end of March, there were more than 95 guests in commercial accommodation and almost 300 overnight stays were achieved. In March, the County was visited by 52 guests who spent 140 nights, the majority of whom were Germans.
