Today in Osijek, Minister Tonči Glavina held a meeting with the tourism sector of the Osijek-Baranja County on the topic of improving existing cooperation and preparing current and future activities as part of the implementation of the tourism development management reform. The acting prefect Mato Lukić was present at the meeting along with Minister Glavina.
"Osijek and the Osijek-Baranja County are extremely important in the development of continental and year-round tourism. The government has placed great emphasis on the development of the continent through all its investments, and as much as 75% of the total allocation of funds from the NPOO is intended for tourism investments in continental Croatia, and for public infrastructure, but also for private entrepreneurs. We are talking about a total of 52 projects, which are co-financed with 270 million euros., said the Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina and emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Croatia is continuously taking care of the development of the Osijek-Baranja County through projects in tourism and sports, for which almost 10 million euros have been secured in the last four-year period.
Glavina added that all these investments are already bringing results, which is also confirmed by tourist traffic in general on the continent, which is 4% better in terms of arrivals and overnight stays than in 2023, while the Osijek-Baranja County achieves even better results, as it has 9% more arrivals and 4% more overnight stays than in the same period in 2023.
"In the coming period, with all these investments, but also with all the changes we are introducing, we expect even stronger growth and even greater utilization of all the tourist potentials of the continental part of Croatia, and especially the Osijek-Baranja County", emphasized Glavina and added that he is especially glad to visit the HeadOnEast event, which further raises the recognition of Slavonia and Baranja as an attractive tourist destination.
