More than 30 m3 of waste was removed from the Lošinj coast and underwater

In a big two-day eco campaign "The sea knows, the island remembers" which took place on Lošinj on April 20 and 21, 2024, with a joint force of about three hundred divers, volunteers and citizens removed it more than 30 m³ from the shores and undersea of ​​the island of Lošinj. 

75 divers from numerous visiting and local diving clubs responded to the invitation of the SUBSEASON diving center and the Blue World Institute, so that there are several hundred volunteers this year as well; guests  and citizens cleaned several locations; port of Mali Lošinj and Čikat bay, port of Nerezine, Ćunski, Artatore, Punta Križa and Veli Lošinj.

"And this year, in cooperation with our partners, we organized a large two-day action to clean the harbor in Mali Lošinj and Nerezine and Čikat bay. On the same day, in cooperation with local committees, the environment was also cleaned in Veli Lošinj, Ćunski, Artatore and Punta Križa. we were helped by the hardworking hands of the visiting divers. We provided gloves and waste bags for all participants. A big thank you to all the volunteers and participants who helped and supported this great project for our small island", she said on behalf of the organizers Jelena Basta, president of the Blue World Institute.

"Traditionally, we participated in the campaign to clean the coast and the seabed of the island of Lošinj, "The sea knows, the island remembers". Jadranka turizam doo gave its support to the campaign in the form of sponsorship in the way that we provided food for the participants in the Silver Bay restaurant. Also, the employees together with their families actively participated in the action and helped in cleaning the coast, as they have done every year so far. With the exception of this action, Jadranka turizam doo has been conducting various eco-actions for cleaning the underwater areas of the wild beaches of Punta Križa in cooperation with the guests and the management of the Baldarin camp, and is also implementing a project of reforestation and revitalization of the Čikat forest park in the area of ​​the camp of the same name. Environmental initiatives and sustainability are one of the fundamental principles of our company that we insist on and which are woven into the policy of our business."

This year, in anticipation of Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22, with the aim of raising public awareness of the problem of waste on the seabed  and the coast and beaches, as well as the promotion of sustainable solutions for the preservation of the marine environment, the waste found at various locations along the island of Lošinj was successfully removed, he pointed out director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj Dalibor Cvitkovic and added:

"Educations, guidelines for guests and residents, care for the environment and raising ecological awareness are just some of the actions we carry out as Top 100 Green Destinations of the World. Thank you to all the participants in this year's eco actions for helping our island shine exactly the way it should be, pure and wonderfully unique"

We remind you that in the previous year 2023, a total of 430 divers, volunteers and citizens also joined forces and participated in this eco-action and removed more than 40 m from the Lošinj coast and underwater³ waste.
