The Zagreb Museum of the 80s, in cooperation with the Zagreb Tourist Board, officially opened its doors on the Chinese market as part of the Museum of the 80s under the name Shanghai 80s - Zagreb 80s.
In the center of Shanghai, at the Cool Docks location near the Bund, one of the most attractive tourist pedestrian zones, the exhibition will be open until February 29, 2020, and then in 10 years the exhibition of this Zagreb museum will tour all major Chinese cities.
"After a very dynamic Year of Culture and Tourism in which the citizens of Croatia and China learned a lot about each other through cultural projects and tourism promotion, its official closing in China is marked by an exhibition from the 80s that will show how much both societies have changed in recent years. about thirty years. Croatia and China are, I will quote the President of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang, in a diamond period, in relations that are progressing strongly and which, thanks to such intensity, bring us closer, not only politically and economically, but also socially and culturally. "Said Dario Mihelin, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the People's Republic of China.
Proof of this is the number of Chinese tourists visiting Croatia, and this year it is expected that by the end of this year there will be half a million tourists. In 2018, guests from China achieved 37% more arrivals (57.861) and 43% more overnight stays (81.027), which took 5th place in total arrivals and 7th place in total overnight stays in Zagreb. They are achieving good results this year as well, so in the first ten months they climbed to 4th place in terms of arrivals and 5th place in terms of registered overnight stays.
"After the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Museum of Illusions and the thematic exhibition of the Museum of Arts and Crafts, this is another Zagreb museum that is presented in Shanghai in cooperation with the Zagreb Tourist Board and the Zagreb Museum in the 80's. We support this unique project and we believe that the exhibition from the eighties will present and promote the tourist offer of the city of Zagreb in the People's Republic of China in an interesting way. Our city is recording a constant increase in the number of Chinese tourists, and as 2019 is the Croatian-Chinese Year of Culture and Tourism, we believe that this project will contribute to strengthening tourist, cultural and friendly ties between the two cities, Zagreb and Shanghai, whose friendship will mark 40 year", Said the director of the Tourist Board, Martina Bienenfeld.
Finally, it is interesting that 2020 will be significant for improving mutual relations, as next year marks the 40th anniversary of the friendship between the city of Zagreb and Shanghai.
