In 2021, tourism will certainly be different and some new trends will emerge. Although it is difficult to predict anything at the moment, various companies are trying to see through research in which direction the needs and habits of passengers will develop. While we wait for the end of the health crisis and the recovery of travel, the consulting company Amadeus from Spain tried to identify several trends that we will closely monitor in 2021.
Surprisingly, the trend has emerged and developed since the beginning of the health crisis, and it is about travel length. You can travel less and often very strict health protocols at the destination are included in the whole story. Tourists therefore want to stay in the destination longer and thus fully enjoy their trip. According to an Amadeus survey, 55% of travelers said they would travel for 14 days or more, and 60% expected to travel only a few times a year. This is an invitation to professionals to offer their customers different, longer and more authentic products.
Teleworking, since the beginning of the pandemic, has been introduced in many companies, which encourages travelers to consider going to work on the other side of the world or digital nomads. In this way, it is possible to discover the destination without taking too long a vacation. Digital nomads need a stable Wi-Fi connection and plenty of time to get the job done, and they can work from anywhere. In order to meet the growing demand, an increasing number of destinations, including Croatia, offer visas tailored to this new type of traveler.
Passengers will certainly need to be reassured in the future due to health risks. Therefore, tourism companies need to show their loyalty by strengthening their health, hygiene and safety systems, to gain the trust of customers. Thus, according to the survey, 40% of tourists say they would give greater preference to airlines, airports and hotels that have applied stricter health and safety standards. They also have more confidence in companies they have worked with or used their services before. Therefore, loyalty to tourism companies this year will be extremely pronounced in price as well.
Increasing customer security with new technologies is a trend that will be applied this year. A recent census survey found that more than 80% of travelers believe technology will boost their confidence for travel in the next 12 months. They are among the most anticipated technologies contactless payment, but also mobile applications that will provide notifications and alerts along the way, for example in the event of localized epidemics or changes in government directives.
Last year was very complex for travel agencies, and the pandemic in the world showed their key role. Travel experts from travel agencies could attract more new customers this year, wanting to rely on their expertise to get better advice, better deals, reliable information on health and safety standards, and above all customized assistance in case of travel interruption, cancellation or delay. . Importance and role of travel agencies this year it could be especially highlighted and sought after
