The draft proposal of the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030 was presented

Yesterday, a public consultation was held at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, where the draft proposal for the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030 was presented.

The draft Strategy defines four strategic goals that are horizontal in nature and apply equally to all stakeholders in tourism and include year-round and regionally more balanced tourism, tourism with preserved environment, space and climate, competitive and innovative tourism, and resilient tourism.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac, the draft focuses on specific goals such as responding to the challenges of excessive tourism, development needs of touristic underdeveloped areas, quality of accommodation structure, conservation and valorization of resources, satisfaction of tourists and service providers, and involvement of the local population. At the same time, each strategic goal is also connected to development needs and sources of financing.

"Ultimately, the vision of this Strategy is to respect the natural and cultural heritage and the unique identity of all regions to create a sustainable year-round tourism desirable for investment, work and life, which contributes to the harmonious economic development of Croatia. In order to achieve this, we paid special attention to ensure that the Strategy is harmonized with the priorities of other departments in the National Development Strategy until 2030, so that the Strategy is not a list of wishes and ideas, but all goals are set so that their achievement is truly possible, but also financially encouraged by the Government. This includes, among other things, the National Plan of recovery and resilience through which HRK 1,25 billion will be available for the private tourism sector, HRK 930 million for public tourism infrastructure and the multi-year financial framework", pointed out Minister Brnjac.

The starting point for creating the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030 is the National Development Strategy until 2030, in which the development of sustainable, innovative and resilient tourism is one of the priority areas. As a medium-term document, the National Plan for the Development of Sustainable Tourism until 2027 is being prepared, which will elaborate priority areas through concrete measures.
