Presentation of Pag in Vienna: TZG Pag continues the gastronomic promotion of the city and the island

The exclusive event attracted media representatives specializing in travel, food and wine, tourism and eno-gastro professionals, and lovers of top gastronomy.

In Vienna, in the area of ​​the Ovalhalle Museumsquartier, the Zadar County Tourist Board in cooperation with the leading media for wine and gastronomy in the German-speaking area - Falstaff, the representative office of the Croatian Tourist Board in Vienna and the Zadar County organized an exclusive event that attracted a large audience of media representatives specialized in travel, food and wine, tourism and food and wine professionals and lovers of top gastronomy.

The Tourist Board of the City of Pag presented an excellent gastronomic offer and specialties of the city and island of Pag, which were prepared and served by the teachers and students of the Bartolo Kašić High School from Pag.

Numerous visitors enjoyed macaroni with shrimp and wild asparagus, cuttlefish ragout with broad beans and cheeses from the Association of Pag Cheese Producers, and special attention was paid to Pag folk costumes and lacemakers who presented the superb art of sewing Pag lace.

"We are extremely happy that, organized by the Tourist Board of Zadar County, we had the opportunity to present our unique gastronomic offer led by the world-famous Pag cheese, which earned us recognition of its value as one of the most important pillars of the gastronomic offer of Zadar County. The Tourist Board of the City of Pag continues its idea of ​​promoting the gastronomic offer of the city and island of Pag as well as the work of the catering department of Bartul Kašić Secondary School, and we invited the teachers Teo Bukša and Ivan Cimperman and two high-quality and promising students Ivan and Luka Horvat who did an outstanding job and justified our trust", she stated Vesna Karavanić, director of the Tourist Board of the City of Pag and thanked everyone who participated in the organization and presentation in Vienna.

The presentation was attended by representatives of companies and tourist boards of Zadar County, as well as Šime Vicković, Deputy Prefect of Zadar County, Ante Sjauš, Head of the Board for Economy and Tourism of Zadar County, and Elisabeth Brandlmaier, editor-in-chief of Falstaff magazine, Igor Kolar, addressed the gathered visitors. the secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Vienna, the director of the TZ of Zadar County, Mihaela Kadija, and Branimir Tončinić, the director of the representative office of the Croatian Tourist Board in Vienna.

In addition to the prepared dishes, the guests also enjoyed traditional liqueurs such as Maraschino, Orahovac and Pelinkovac, as well as top wines from nine winemakers from the Association of Winemakers of Zadar County. In addition to the live stage play of the Knights of Vranski and the baklava of the Heritage Hotel Maškovića han, the guests were also able to taste excellent olive oil produced in Zadar County. 

At the central station, Dalmatian dishes were offered by chefs Josip Vrsaljko and Saša Began, and the islands of Zadar County under the Zadar Archipelago brand presented a rich fishing tradition and seafood - anchovies, octopus, prawns, tuna, sardines with the addition of pickled motra. Hot dishes with tuna, vegetables and gnocchi were prepared and served, as well as desserts, cakes and biscuits with olive oil.

"Numerous visitors were delighted with the dishes they prepared and served. Of course, our Pag cheese attracted special attention from the Association of Pag Cheese Producers, and lacemaker Jasna Magaš presented the art of sewing our beautiful Pag lace, whose beauty they recognized. Also, special interest and admiration was caused by our women's national costume. We believe that this is the first such way of presenting the gastronomic offer, and that other promotions will follow in cooperation with the TZ of Zadar County, because the city and the island of Pag can offer a truly indigenous, unique and special gastronomy that deserves this way of presentation " concluded Karavanić.
