Above Međimurje, ten kilometers from Čakovec, in Železna Gora, just ten steps from the Terbotz Restaurant, stands a historic Zichy Manor – Terbocz.

For twenty-three years now Restaurant Terbotz is a symbol of Međimurje's culinary tradition and a place that brings back pleasant memories for guests. Encouraged by the restaurant's excellent reputation, the Jakopić family decided a few years ago to undertake a very demanding and responsible reconstruction. historical manor houses Zichy – Terbocz. As part of the project "Investment in the reconstruction of the Zichy - Terbocz manor house and its conversion into a heritage hotel with the construction of an accompanying building and facilities", the restoration of the historic manor house and its conversion into A high-class hotel, with additional facilities such as a wellness center.

The total value of the project amounts to EUR 4.931.504,48, of which EUR 3.481.682,44 was provided from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the EU call "Strengthening sustainability and encouraging the green and digital transition of entrepreneurs in the tourism sector". This investment, which includes the application of the highest environmental standards and digital innovations, will significantly contribute to the development of sustainable continental tourism and reduce the pressure of overtourism in the most developed tourist areas of Croatia.

The reconstruction of the Zichy - Terbocz manor house, which has the status of a protected cultural asset, brings an innovative approach to connecting tradition and modern tourist trends. The new heritage hotel will be recognizable for its authentic ambience, high ecological efficiency and an offer that will attract guests from all over the world. In addition to the existing catering offer of the Terbotz restaurant, this project further strengthens the position Međimurje kao top sustainable destinations i cultural tourism.

Investment confirms commitment Jakopić Crafts heritage preservation and innovative development of the tourism sector, and significantly contributes to the economic growth of northern Croatia and the creation of new jobs.

CELEBRATION DINNER LEADING CHEFS OF TERBOTZ RESTAURANT

Twenty years of the restaurant's operation, the prestigious achievements of chefs Novak & Horak, and the capital investment in the reconstruction of the manor house were the reasons for Silvija and Amos to prepare a celebratory dinner for friends, associates, builders and business partners, conservators, the county's top officials, local communities, and the media. 

Chef Silvija Horak

From the very beginning, chef Silvija Horak has been creating dishes with the unique flavors of Međimurje. Seasonal and fresh soups, meat and fish dishes, game, salads, imaginative side dishes and top-notch desserts are prepared using ingredients from the restaurant's own garden, orchard, estate, surrounding forests and the Mura and Drava rivers.

Chef Horak's achievements and gastronomic skills have earned the restaurant and her personally dozens of the highest national and European recognitions and awards. We would like to highlight only the first place in 2022 in Večernjak's selection of the best restaurants "Večernjakova zvijezda", the trophy of the chef of traditional cuisine in the Gault & Millau selection 2020, winning second place in the selection of the best traditional restaurants 2019, multiple Suncokret wins, gold charters in the "traditional rural gastronomy" class, and an invitation to become a member of the Chaine des rotisseurs. 

Chef Amos Novak

In the restaurant, and especially in the kitchen, significant changes began to occur with the arrival of the young chef Amos Novak. In a very short time, Amos achieved a string of successes that improved and revolutionized almost all the dishes. With Amos, chef Horak gained a fresh and youthfully defiant support, and the restaurant gained stability and calmness in serving even the most demanding guests.

In 2024, Chef Amos won first place at the Croatia Culinary Cup in Poreč, a bronze medal at the IKA Culinary Olympics Stuttgart, bronze in Osijek at the National Culinary Championship, second place in the Chaine des rotisseurs competition for young chefs under 27, and a diploma at the World Culinary Team Cup in Luxembourg.

Jakopić Wines

Jakopić Winery is the winner of a platinum, two large gold, four silver and five bronze Decanter medals. Pušipel is the first determinant of the vineyard and cellar, right after the creation of great red wine, brilliant Sauvignon, green Silvaner, yellow Muscat, fluffy Graševina, new rosé styles, Rhine Riesling and the inevitable Terbotz sparkling wine. In addition to Jakopić Winery wines, the restaurant's wine list also contains the best wines of eminent winemakers from the Međimurje Wine Road.

Chefs Amos and Silvija prepared five courses, and winemaker and restaurateur Branimir Jakopić, with his sons and family, selected ten wines and created a memorable atmosphere in which the evening unfolded, introducing everyone gathered in a casual mood to the achievements of the kitchen and the news that are being hurriedly transformed into a high-class heritage hotel with the addition of luxurious amenities at the Zichy - Terbocz manor construction site. 

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.
