Parenzana bike and hiking trail, is one of the most popular trails in Istria, and at its 78 kilometers from Plovanija to Porec, passes through beautiful landscapes and vistas, medieval towns such as Buje, Grožnjan, Oprtalj, Motovun and Vižinada, rest areas, olive groves and vineyards, next to the truffle forest, through tunnels and picturesque viaducts. All of the above is shown in 12 short videos, lasting 15 seconds each.
Parenzana was narrow gauge railway which from 1902 to 1935 circulated northwestern Istria, connecting the ports of Trieste and Porec with places in the interior of the peninsula. In only 33 years of operation, it has significantly contributed to the economic progress of that part of Istria.
On the XNUMXth anniversary of the opening of the railway, an initiative was launched for a kind of renovation of this unique railway and the foundations of the future project were laid. "Parenzana - the path of health and friendship", in order to arrange the entire route of the railway for the movement of walkers and cyclists. From then until today, the route has been arranged and marked with characteristic signposts, protective fences have been built on bridges and viaducts, tunnels have been lit, and accompanying facilities have been set up to tell visitors the story of Parenzana.
The videos were shot primarily for promotional purposes, to bring Parenzan even closer to all users and those who are about to become one, and to show them the beauties of Istria, especially at this time of pandemic when visitors to Istria, for safety, choose to stay in nature. cycling and walking are the most common activities.
Year after year, Parenzana confirms its status as the Istrian queen of cycling, which is shown by the number of visitors, both cyclists and pedestrians, who in the past three years there were over 260 thousand.
