Looking back at some of the implemented junction projects on the state road D8, the minister Oleg Butkovic on Wednesday, he pointed out that it was the turn of the Mandalina node, which is very important because in this part of the entrance to Šibenik, especially in the tourist season, crowds are created, so in this sense, resolving this will further relieve it.

The contract signing ceremony for the project 'Reconstruction of the intersection of the state road D 8 and V. Škorpika Street in Šibenik - Mandalina junction - 1st phase (1 carriageway)' took place on February 14 in Šibenik.

The project includes the reconstruction of the intersection, i.e. the construction of a junction in two levels with two roundabouts, and one uneven roundabout will be located at the place of the current traffic lights, and the other in Velimira Škorpika Street with branches towards TC Dalmare, the city district of Mandalina and the new fire station.

The construction of the project in question will significantly increase bandwidth both the intersection itself and DC8 for vehicles in transit, and the connection of the business zone with DC8 and the connecting road to the highway will be significantly improved.

The aforementioned project activities will raise the level of traffic service in that area, which will also increase traffic safety.

Performance deadline

"I am glad that we are here today, that we are continuously present in the renovation and construction of road infrastructure, and not only road infrastructure but also port and other infrastructure that we cover as a Ministry", said Minister Butković, emphasizing the very good cooperation with the City of Šibenik and the County.

Building permit

President of the Board of Croatian Roads Josip Škorić he pointed out that the works for the mentioned project will be started in agreement with the City, immediately after obtaining the construction permit, which is expected by the end of this month.

"Considering the importance of this project and the fact that we certainly have to sacrifice practically one tourist season, because the deadline is twelve months, I think we will have to start the works as early as possible", Škorić continued, stressing that this project will ultimately bring benefits to the citizens of Šibenik and solve traffic jams, especially in this area where there are commercial zones and where they are one of the most important and busiest hubs in the City of Šibenik.

Mayor of the City of Šibenik Željko Burić he emphasized the exceptional cooperation with Croatian roads in the implementation of existing projects.
