Spending time outdoors, local gastronomy and events are the key to excellent tourism results in Zagreb County

According to the latest data from the eVisitor system, in the first nine months of Zagreb County, there were about 58% more arrivals and about 50% more overnight stays by tourists compared to the same period last year. If we compare this year's data with those from the record year 2019, achieved  is about 91% of arrivals, while the number of overnight stays is higher by about 2% in the year 2019.

Looking at the destinations, the most visited county towns were Velika Gorica, Sveta Nedelja, Jastrebarsko, Samobor and Ivanić-Grad. 

Data from the eVisitor system also show that the most numerous guests, in addition to domestic guests, were guests from the markets of Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, the USA, the Czech Republic, France and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Following global tourism trends based on storytelling, we create campaigns for the development of a sustainable tourist destination in accordance with the habits of visitors who prefer to stay outdoors, want  get to know the local gastronomy and the offer and thus experience the destination, such as our VIA Vino festival.", said the director of the TZ of the Zagreb County, Ivana Alilović, adding that "The Zagreb County is an ideal destination for an annual vacation, far from crowds and mass tourism, yet close to Zagreb. "

The VIA VINO festival in its second year encouraged visitors to explore the rich wine and gastronomic offer of Zagreb County.

During a total of three weekends in different locations, from the rolling vineyards on the hill above Ivanić Grad, the fairy-tale surroundings of the historic Manor Nespeš, the natural amphitheater of Plešivica and finally, the hidden Lugarnica Čardak in the Turopolje forest, hundreds of VIA VINA visitors enjoyed spectacular evenings dedicated to top wines and authentic gastronomy with the signature of the Zagreb County.

"The VIA VINO festival in locations close to the capital, revealed to our visitors a unique combination of local gastronomy where we based our menu of dishes on seasonal and traditional ingredients, Turopolska pork and black Turopolska truffles along with an offer of top quality wines and recognized family distilleries of Zagreb County.Alilović concluded.
