As every year, on September 27th, the World Tourism Day is celebrated all over the world, and this year's slogan under which it is held isTOURISM & PEACE / TOURISM AND PEACE.
World Tourism Day is celebrated in order to strengthen awareness of tourism and its economic, sociological, cultural and political significance within the international community. This date was chosen to coincide with an important moment for the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the day when its Statute was adopted in 1970.
Tourism should always serve as a reminder of the importance of dialogue, peace, tolerance and mutually beneficial interactions between people and countries, according to the UNWTO.
This year, Istria is far ahead of everyone in the program as part of the celebration of World Tourism Day.
Some destinations organize a free guided tour of the city, rarely a concert or a slightly wider program - everything is somehow more of a formality. Apart from the County of Istria, which has been organizing the celebration of World Tourism Day in Istria for the ninth year in a row, and which is far ahead of everyone else in terms of the celebration program.
This year's edition will take place September 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday), from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. even 50 points throughout Istria. Not 5, but 50.
Tourist attractions are available for visitors with discounts up to 50% or completely free, and all information about the offered content is available at: www.istra-sdt.com
"All those interested, in addition to adrenaline parks, museums, castles, caves, protected areas, workshops, performances and more, will be able to visit winemakers, olive growers and other local producers who joined the action. The event was also attended by local tourist boards with their programs. In the Department of Tourism, we believe that, in accordance with this year's theme of World Tourism Day, we will also use this event to point out the importance of sustainable development of tourism, through responsibility towards nature, cultural values, traditions and customs.", at the same time encouraging and valorizing domestic, autochthonous products and services, the county head of tourism said on the occasion Nada Prodan Mrakovic.

Happy World Tourism Day.
If I can send one message, it is to be who we are: Slavonians, Istrians, Dalmatians, Međimurians... because tourists want to get to know our culture and way of life. It is this authenticity that is the essence of tourism. And don't forget, the destination is the reason for coming, not the bed.
